From Students

What do you consider the strong points of the instructor's teaching in this class?

Human-centered approach with deep care for the well-being and success of each student. Embodied feminine leadership. Engaging, meaningful, and relevant lessons, classes, discussions, and activities.

Vivian was able to adapt to our needs and adjusted to our learning styles. I believe the required readings were not used during this course because they did not seem beneficial to our goals. Vivian was able to pivot and adjust to us and what we needed to help us get our final projects together. Vivian created a supportive atmosphere and really listened to each of us. Since our class was so small, it was a very intimate space, and she showed us what it meant to be vulnerable, to stay true to ourselves, what sisterhood looked like, and what it meant to play and have joy. I think the best thing about her was allowing us space, in and out of class, to focus on our projects.

Vivien really was invested in each of her students and made herself available, offered suggestions, lots of resources. She sent me a book to help with my research! All very much appreciated. She brought in outside speakers and resources to help us as well.

Dr. Gibbons was attuned to the specific needs of each student and went out of her way to encourage and assist students when they needed help. She made classes feel like a safe space, and she facilitated good Zoom classes. clear, but always responsive.
